The FASTWELL Ankle Foot Orthosis Leaf spring  is designed for convenient and comfortable use, it is easily trimmed to size, is low profile and has an open heel to fit into shoes more easily. A recently improved design, this AFO is constructed from polypropylene which provides extra high strength properties being super lightweight. The soft panel supplied with the AFO supports the calf area comfortably and can be washed at 30 degrees Celsius with neutral soap to maintain freshness. 

The calf area  also has a Velcro fastening for easy application and padding that helps prevent unpleasant pressure from building up.

Fitting FASTWELL Ankle Foot Orthosis Leaf spring

1. Where necessary, trim the end of the foot section with scissors, so as to adapt the AFO to the shoe and foot shape. Roll over the edges with sandpaper to ensure no sharp elements that may catch on the shoe or skin.

2. Where necessary, the AFO can be thermoformed in order to ensure that it fits and conforms perfectly to the leg.

3. Insert the AFO into the shoe.

4. Put the shoe on with the AFO already inserted.

5. Fasten the pad on the calf.

6. Pull the Velcro strap around the calf.

7. Where necessary, use additional  foot strap to secure the appliance.

As you can see, there are many ways of ensuring that the AFO fits to your foot and leg perfectly, improving comfort and maximising usability.  

Putting On FASTWELL Ankle Foot Orthosis Leaf spring

1. Insert the AFO into the shoe.

2. Put the shoe on with the AFO already inserted.

3. Fasten the padding on the calf.

4. Pull the Velcro strap around the calf.

5. Ideal if used in closed shoes i.e sports shoes

This AFO has been designed to be as easy as possible to put on and take off, minimizing preparation time and fitting quickly into your daily routine.

Care Instructions

Hand wash the calf pad in lukewarm water (30 degrees Celsius) with neutral soap. Then rinse thoroughly and dry away from heat.

When washing the plastic section of the AFO, simply wipe with a sponge soaked in a solution of warm water and neutral detergent. Then dry with a cloth. 

User Precautions and Warnings

Make sure that any pressure exercised by the device does not involve parts of the body with wounds, swelling or enlargements. In case of any doubt about the method of application, contact your physical therapist, orthotist or consultant. Do not wear the device near open flames.

The AFO brace should be prescribed and used under medical control and applied by Physical Therapist and  orthotist, who is the person of reference for application and any information regarding safe use relative to personal needs. To ensure effectiveness, tolerability and correct function, the device should be applied with the maximum care. Any structural alteration or adjustment must be prescribed by a physician and made by an orthotist. The device should be used by one patient only. For patients with very sensitive skin, direct contact may cause reddening or irritation. If there is any pain, swelling, enlargement or any abnormal reaction, contact your doctor immediately.
